THEY WILL BE BACK ON APRIL 25th WITH THEIR BRAND NEW ALBUM ETERNITY AFTER OVER 25 YEARS OF ACTIVITE, HERE I'M TALKING WITH KEN SANDIN TO KNOW MUCH BETTER THIS NEW WORK!
Hi there and thanks a lot to be here on the Bible of Metal! What a great honor to me interview you guys for this comin' back album, guess you have worked pretty hard for it it sounds amazing from the first to the last note!
Thanks for having us, and glad you like the album. Yes, it was a great deal of work - writing, arranging, producing and performing… all the way through final mixes.
But, when you love what you do this much, you don’t mind all the hours. We had a clear vision of what we wanted the album to be like, and I’m happy with the result.
How was regaining once again the contact with your co-writers Pam Barlow and Janet Morrison Minto after all this years?
Great fun! We share fond memories of the recordings in LA in 1988, and that album has meant a lot to us all. That’s why we came up with the idea of adding a song of theirs, as homage to our co-work back then. It turned out to be more than just that (80’s) song; they ended up working on lyrics for some of our new songs as well. The result is awesome!
Could you tell us more about the song you added to the tracklist from the 80s? (of course I mean I'm a Fighter)
I had the demo of ‘I’m A Fighter’, written by Pam Barlow & Janet Morrison Minto and sung by Marcie Free (Unruly Child). Great song, should we do one of theirs it should be that one. Funny thing is they thought we’d passed on the song (in ’88), but we never got to hear it.
Our version is a bit faster, otherwise quite alike.
I liked pretty much rocking Unbroken, could you tell us more about it?
Thanks, it’s one of my favorites, too. One of the very first songs we wrote for this album, based on the keyboard ‘hook’. We put a lot of effort in the arrangement on this one.
5. Do you have already some ideas for some new stuff or are you now focused on Eternity promoting?
We are all writers and new ideas just keep coming, but surely we have to focus on promoting the album now… and take it to the road as soon as possible.
6. Would you like to leave a message to the readers?
Hope you’ll enjoy our ‘Eternity’ album. Alien would absolutely love to come and play in Italy! I’ve had so much fun touring Italy with Kee Marello, Vinnie Moore, Uli Jon Roth and others. I miss it and can’t wait to be back!
All the best, love //Ken Sandin (ALIEN)
