HERO OF TODAY: CODENAME DELIRIOUS

THEY'VE RELEASED THEIR VERY NEW AND DELIRIOUS ALBUM THE GREAT HEARTLESS JUST A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO, WHAT A BETTER CHRISTMAS PRESENTS, FOR YOU READERS, THAN A GOOD INTERVIEW WITH THE BAND TO KNOW A LITTLE MORE OF THEIR BEHIND THE SCENE AND ABOUT THEIR TOMORROW? THESE ARE CODENAME: DELIRIOUS!

Hi guys and welcome on our page called "The Bible of Metal"! Before we begin to talk about your new album, why don't you tell us how your project called "Codename: Delirious" was born? Why did you choose these specific words?
It's been really random, I mean, it sounded good and we decided to keep it. What we do is not really conventional and it can be compared to an "artistic and musical delirium". I must admit that the first tracks represented this concept in a very good way, they had many metric modulation and complex drops, but with the passing of the time we realized that semplicity should have been the key to the creation of something different.

R. Date: 22.10.2018

What is your main source of inspiration?
We have different sources, we are five people with five purely metal backgrounds, from death metal to post hardcore or
black metal. But suddently, in 2012, the overpowering dubstep came among us! Skrillex, Nero, Excision, Borgore: they
are dj that inspire Marco, our bass player and composer, during the creation of the project called "Codename: Delirious".
All the way we are not ashamed to tell you that we are inspired also by other commercial genres; in fact you will surely find some trap inserts in the album! (Sorry about that...)

Do your experiences in life influence your lyrics? And how much?
Yes, they do a lot. Most lyrics are all about nowdays musical industry, a sea full of sharks, people that propose musical
contracts in exchange for a lot of money without any fauvorable terms for your work. Many other lyrics are about the emotional sphere: the sensation of not feeling adequate to any task in life, or detached from the reality that you live in.

Two years ago you released the single called Dr. Braun featuring Steven McCorry of Exotype. Why did you choose this track?
Dr. Braun was part of an old EP that we never released before, we only used to give it to some clubs in the hinterland in Milan to try to convince the owners to let us play. We thought it could be the perfect track to put inside the CD we wanted to release and after all we were right! It's such a particular track because it has a lot of different sounds inside and not only the one that we know it might put a few noses out.

In October you released the videoclip of "Bridge Over Alpha-Z. What is the song about?
This track is an emotional song. The lyrics are about the feeling of not being adequate to such a society, in which money and favoritism rule.
Credit and feelings seem to be outdated when you deal with business. Maybe we are wrong, maybe they are wrong.

What is "Worst of me" about?
"Worst of Me" is a song with rap lyrics. It's about our experiences, the people we have dealt before we signed with Agoge Records (we cannot thank them enough). Unfortunately, or fortunately, bands are so many, but musical industry offers so few chances to emerge! Unfortunately it's all at the mercy of people who cares only about money and not about music as an art.

Are you planning to release some other singles taken from the album?
Yes, we are, absolutely! We will begin to work on a video of a song next January; we don't like spoilers, but i can only say we're ready to show "the worst part of us"!

What about your future? Any follow-ups?
We are already working on some tracks, but we don't want to focus on only one style, so we are experimenting something different and trying to take inspiration from other genres, but now i will not spoiler anything about it; we will surprise you and make you say "what the hell?" at the right time!

When will you perform on stage live?
At the moment we are looking for some concerts and we are in contact with some clubs out of Italy as we want to take our music to the general public. We'd like to play live in France and Germany, places where metal and electronical music melt together in a very good way, as we know thanks to some famous bands such as Eskimo Callboy.

Would you like to leave a message for our readers?
We only ask you to open your minds, not to cling on to outdated genres and to try to be brave and to have the courage to dare and follow the high road. Once you get there, you'll see the best landscape... as soon as we get there, we'll let you know how it is, we promise!
Cheers!
